Site Analysis 2

http://www.ianbarnard.net/

Ian Barnard has a very straightforward website which he uses to sell his art work. The website is mainly a scrolling page besides the about and contact page. As you scroll down the page the images are the most prominent elements at any given time. This makes it easier for users looking to buy his artwork to view all of his pieces simply and easily.

http://seanhalpin.io/

Sean Halpin is a web designer who has a very particular style. The style is relayed in his art. The feel of his website is very easy-going, clean, and a bit kiddish. I say this because of the style of art he chooses to use throughout his website. The colors he picked are pastel which fits the mood and style of his graphics he displays. I like this site because it's very minimal and gets the job done.

http://malikafavre.com/

Malik Fabre is probably the most established designer I've blogged about yet. Her work has been used in multiple publications and she's internationally known. The website has a very chic feel that complement her art. Her style is very recognizable. The color palette of all of her images are similar but the way she arranges the images makes viewing her portfolio comfortable and not too overwhelming due to the saturated color palette she loves to use in her art.

Week 7 Peer Critique

Yu Ren is as interior designer with a very fitting website. The colors she picked were calm and collective. The website had a smooth atmosphere and a good overall feel. The only problem I found with her website was repeating information. I found this on the homepage, contact page, and resume page they all had her name phone number and town and area code where she lived. All this information could go on one page. The portfolio page had a good layout which made it easy to navigate.

Week 3

3A Photomerge

Concept Statement

Concept Statement

For my web portfolio, I want the layout to be clean and easy to navigate. I'll do this by minimal buttons. The three buttons I'll use are home, portfolio, and resume. These three buttons will always be shown at the top of the screen along with my logo. The home button once clicked will bring the user back to the homepage. The homepage will have a hero image that scrolls through my portfolio thumbnails every 5 to 10 seconds. The portfolio button will bring users to a page debuting my projects shown in thumbnails. I want to add an effect to my thumbnails like getting brighter as you hover over them or make the image larger as you hover over them. For my resume page, it'll just show my resume and a link to a PDF so users can download my resume. I want to find a textured background I can use for my website that complements my logo. The texture will give the page depth and show what is clickable and what's not easier. Design elements like this will hopefully make the user experience more enjoyable.

Website Analysis 1

Daniel Mackey
danielmackey.com

I enjoyed Daniel Mackey's web portfolio because I found it was very easy to navigate. The saturated colors he used in his images make his portfolio stand out from the rest. The website gives users the opportunity to purchase items Daniel has designed. I thought this was a good idea for someone to generate revenue quick and easy.

Alan Fletcher
alanfletcherarchive.com

Alan Fletcher's website really gives the user a sense of his personality. He's been designing for over 50 years and it shows with the way he set up his websites interface. Everything is really easy to find. It reminded me of looking for something in the library because of its structure. The only downfall to his website was the user had to agree to terms and conditions to view it. Which I understood after viewing his work.

Nicolas Chevailler
nicolaschevailler.com

Nicholas Chevailler chose to show all of his work on one page. This makes it easy to find what you're looking for because it's straight to the point. I enjoyed the subtle color scheme and the texture he added to the background. It made his images stand out more on the page. He also added a zoom in effect on his thumbnails which I found intriguing.
